To be precise, today I’m going to talk about one. What are our favourite things?

Being with our human

More than anything we want to be with our human. Some of our friends go as far as to say we form a ‘pathological’ bond with our human. They mean we are pretty extreme in this and that’s true. Don’t misunderstand, it isn’t to the exclusion of others, but we would follow our principal human to the end of the earth. We’d do anything for them and go everywhere with them, and that includes when they want to go to the toilet! Oh, I kid you not. With one of us that’s not too much problem. With three of us, the smallest room in the house can get a little bit cramped.

We bond most closely with the human who feeds us and cares for us. We will bond with more than one human when we live in a family, but there will always be one we follow more than any other.

Working

We love working. Having a job to do is very fulfilling and we take it very seriously. I’m not saying we all want to spend our day herding cattle, but we do like to work. Most of us are pets so clearly we don’t work in a traditional sense, but whatever job you give us to do we will do to the best of our ability. Take Ari and swimming. When Ari goes swimming, he won’t take rests after a length or two. As far as he is concerned it is his job to swim up and down for half an hour carrying a toy in his mouth and he can rest when he’s finished his job.

Me? Well if you put a rucksack on my back when we’re going out, I know it is my job to carry something and I’ll do my best at that. I also understand if Mum fastens my lead so that one part is on my collar and one on my harness that I am going to walk somewhere that I need to stay very close to her and follow commands at all times.

If we think it’s time to work, we will get very serious about it.

Wilma with her rucksack

Learning

We love learning new things. We are very capable of picking up new skills and whether it is a trick or a useful skill we can learn very quickly if you put the time in to teaching us. We can learn word signals, hand commands, body language. We can even read situations and work out what is required for ourselves. That one works best if we do the thing you wanted us to do of course! We like to use our brains. Mum always says you need to train us before we train you and she’s right.

Cuddles

We love being cuddled. Anyone who tells you that dogs don’t like being cuddled has clearly never met one of our breed. Or they met Shadow, she’s not so much of a cuddler. I love my cuddles and Ari would spend 24 hours a day being cuddled if he had the opportunity. We are very affectionate cuddly dogs.

So there you have our favourite things, in a nutshell.

Love

Wilma

Wilma brings you Entlebucher Frequently Asked Questions Part 5 – today she answers ‘What are our favourite things?’

[151,61
63,50,60
post-20507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entlebucher-faqs","category-training","tag-aristotle","tag-entlebucher","tag-training-2","post_format-post-format-gallery
["GET
