GotMe Day is what we call Gotcha Day. It’s the day we come into your family and make ourselves at home. For Alfie, it was the day Mum first introduced him to his little two seater car and discovered he had absolutely zero map reading ability. That didn’t improve as he got older. I’ll tell you some of what Alfie said and then come back to some of Mum’s recollections.

Alfie in 2019 on his GotMe Day

Today is my GotMe Day. You may have seen humans celebrating Gotcha days being the day their pet moved in with them. Well as I’m doing the celebrating, it’s more of a GotMe Day. I’m fully expecting to be showered with gifts. Although, to be fair I’ve been fully expecting to be showered with gifts for the last twelve GotMe Days and it hasn’t happened yet! From our point of view, GotMe Day is looked at with mixed feelings. Oh, please don’t misunderstand, I love my Mistress dearly and have had a wonderful thirteen years with her. However, I had a very good start in life too and I can’t help but look back and think fondly of my Mum and my birth humans. One of my biggest regrets about having to give up travelling is that I can’t go to see them anymore.

Rose-tinted Spectacles

Now looking back it seems hard to think I was ever a ten week old pup who knew so little of how the world worked. Our Mistress says I was a very easy pup to look after and hardly put a paw wrong. While that’s a nice thought, I’ll leave her to see the world through rose tinted spectacles and won’t remind her of any of my little misdemeanours. I’m not so deluded to think I was perfect, but I’m very happy that my Mistress thinks I was.

Mum’s Thoughts

I asked Mum what she remembered of those early days and can only conclude that the rose-tinted spectacles comment was fair. Either that or Alfie really was perfect. He slept through the night from the first night he came home. Alfie didn’t cry or leave a puddle, he was just a good little boy. He pounced on his food bowl with excitement when it was filled and occasionally broke off from eating to pounce on his cushion. He never liked early morning walks, but would always go out with great enthusiasm later in the day – unless it was raining, when he preferred to stay indoors. Mum says she still misses him every day and treasures the memories of the times they had together.

I’m off to try to live up to the very high standards that Alfie set

Love Wilma

Wilma has a GotMe Day for Alfie Flashback, celebrating that wonderful day in 2006 when Alfie came into Mum’s life.

[137
109,50,53
post-19996","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entlebucher","tag-alfie","tag-entlebucher","tag-puppies","post_format-post-format-gallery
["GET
