Well I should have complied with Mum\u2019s request. I\u2019ve only got myself to blame. I told you that I was now being included in the enforced exercise regime as I wasn\u2019t doing enough on my own. I was happy, but Mum said sauntering around the garden looking for dropped bird food did not count. She gave me due warning. She said, \u201cWilma if you don\u2019t join in as we walk around the yard I will put you on your lead and make sure you do.\u201d I didn\u2019t think she was serious. Why would she?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It turned out that I was wrong and Mum was entirely serious. That\u2019s not the worst part of it. Mum said she thought I looked a little overweight. Oh, I tried to hold it in and say it was just my fur fluffed out for winter. The robin gets away with it with his feathers, so I thought it was worth a try. That would have worked better if Mum hadn\u2019t put my harness on me. She had to let it out before she could do it up. Now I\u2019m in real trouble. Not only am I having to join in the enforced exercise programme but my food rations have been cut. All treats have been withdrawn. If I beg for Mum\u2019s lunch the best I get is a bit of apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As always there is a moral in the story. If your human says they want you to do something, it\u2019s best to go along with it the first time of asking. The consequences can be so much worse if you don\u2019t. I did wonder how many laps of the yard we were going to build up to, but now I don\u2019t like to ask in case it prompts some more draconian measures. Shadow is back on rest for her leg, but Aristotle is still adding an extra lap a day. Me, well, I\u2019m going to be a good girl from now on. What do you mean you don\u2019t believe me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
