I spent some time yesterday thinking about what might have been. It was the day that Dad was supposed to come home for Christmas. On the bright side the first \u2018emergency\u2019 Christmas parcel that we sent, arrived with him. Christmas just wouldn\u2019t be Christmas for Dad if he didn\u2019t have any mince pies or Christmas pudding. I know that at the end of the day they aren\u2019t really the things that matter, but they will bring a smile to his face and that\u2019s important to all of us. I wonder how long they\u2019ll last him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shadow is of course the one of us who will feel it most. She\u2019s his dog, or more to the point he\u2019s her human. They have a much closer relationship than she has with Mum. Mum is trying to comfort her, spending time together just hanging out. Actually, Mum isn\u2019t so much hanging out as trying to get the Wii working in the room Shadow is in. She\u2019s got it into her head that she\u2019s going to use it to exercise \u2013 Mum that is, not Shadow. It took the first hour just to replace the various batteries and try to find out how to turn it on. Frankly I don\u2019t hold out much hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The best news of the week is that despite saying she is going to diet, Mum has put cheesecake back on the menu and we should be making one either today or tomorrow. That\u2019s a job we all like helping with. A little bit of cream never did any of us any harm \u2013 except Shadow. To be fair, Shadow can\u2019t have a little bit of cream anymore because of her tendency to pancreatitis. That just leaves more bowl licking for me and Aristotle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
