We\u2019re going to let them tell you about it in their own words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Imagine if<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2026 your child was born with a disability that no-one could diagnose.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our assistance dogs give children like Charlie the confidence and independence to shine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Charlie was born, it was obvious straight away that something was wrong. Mum Leanne had to steel herself to ask the most difficult question of her life \u2013 \u2018Is my son going to die?\u2019 The answer she received was simply, \u2018We don\u2019t think so\u2026\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CharlieRonnie-thank-you-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Charlie and Ronnie his assistance dog from Dogs for Good - part of their Imagine if campaign\" class=\"wp-image-18416\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From that day forward, they have had to learn to live with the unknown.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His disabilities include vision and hearing impairments, low muscle tone, autistic traits and significant delays in his physical and cognitive development. Time and time again, they have been unable to access desperately needed help, because they don\u2019t fit into one single diagnosable\u00a0condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meet Ronnie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ronnie is Charlie\u2019s assistance dog, trained by Dogs for Good. Mum, Leanne says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ronnie has made Charlie more independent, which has massively increased his confidence. He helps with practical tasks, such as retrieving items for Charlie, and helping him get dressed. I\u2019ve also noticed a real change in Charlie\u2019s energy levels. It wasn\u2019t something I was expecting, but I think it\u2019s because he focusses on Ronnie and forgets about his tiredness. He\u2019s also helping Charlie with his therapies \u2013 simply throwing a ball for his dog encourages him no end with his co-ordination and gross motor skills. Leanne tells us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ways in which Ronnie is changing our lives are countless. He is all kinds of amazing. Life looks different since he has come along. Ronnie and Charlie are absolutely inseparable, and I can\u2019t wait to see them grow up together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine if Ronnie hadn\u2019t come along to give Charlie the confidence and independence to shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now imagine your gift this Christmas doing the same for someone else.
