It isn\u2019t helped by Mum\u2019s office getting hotter than the rest of the house. Who could blame me for taking up my usual spot outside on the slabs. I ended up standing and sitting quite a lot as it was just one of those days where I wasn\u2019t quite sure what to do with myself. Now, if someone had said \u2018ice cream\u2019 I\u2019d have been there like a shot, but they didn\u2019t. There was another good reason not to be in the office. The human tendency to sweat is not a pleasant one. Why can\u2019t you just pant like the rest of us. I suggested to Mum that she\u2019d be better sitting outside with me. She did for a while, but she pointed out that one of us needed to get some work done and if it wasn\u2019t going to be me then it had better be her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0224-copy-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17712\"\/><figcaption>Which is my best side? This one&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The best places in the house<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When the weather is like that the best places in the house are \u2013 the hall, as it has no direct windows and a stone floor, our shower room as it has no windows at all and a tiled floor. The utility \u2013 which does have windows but they don\u2019t face the sun so it stays cool. I\u2019m happy to leave the others to appreciate those as I\u2019m much more an outdoor girl every time. I did suggest Mum might find it better lying on a stone floor but she seemed less keen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0228-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17713\"\/><figcaption>&#8230;or this one?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On the bright side<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, on the bright side, as long as Mum remembers to water the plants they are all growing pretty well. The carrots are much bigger this year, which is great news as that means more for us. I\u2019ve been eating the greengages as well. Actually, I\u2019ve been clearing up the spare bird seed too. There\u2019s a pattern here and it could account for why Mum has to have me permanently on a diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilma<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Thundery weather is not ideal.
