It is for the dog who has contributed most to the breed in the UK in that year. Today would have been our Club AGM and Fun Day. Mum would have been presenting the award. Obviously, at the moment that is not possible. Therefore, instead she has written a piece for our Club newsletter. I asked if I could print it for all of you today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>In Alfie\u2019s Honour<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I wanted to do something that means p<\/em>eople would remember <em>Alfie for years to come.<\/em> <em>He was such an important part of establishing the breed in the UK. I have therefore set up an award in his honour. Under normal circumstances it will be awarded at the AGM in April and is for the dog who has made an outstanding contribution to the breed in the previous year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alfie-Trophy-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17346\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The r<\/em>ecipient will hold the <em>trophy for the year  w<\/em>ith <em>their  name engraved on it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Alfie Bangwood<\/em> Winner of the Alfie Dog Award<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/89364628_137216230989029_4723610353605279744_n-1024x748.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17177\"\/><figcaption>Sian and Buddy (Alfie Bangwood)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>W<\/em>e award the trophy for<em> 2020 to Buddy (Alfie Bangwood). <\/em>W<em>hen t<\/em>he judge<em> pulled Buddy out into the shortlist of the Working Group at Crufts,<\/em> I don&#8217;t think many of us had dry eyes<em>. It is an incredible achievement for the breed.<\/em> He is <em>the first Import Register dog shortlisted at Crufts in any group. B<\/em>uddy was rehomed when he was young, something you would not realise by w<em>atching h<\/em>im.<em> Sian Baynton has done the most amazing job of his show training. Together they have done a great deal to promote the breed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Well done Buddy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It only remains for me to say well done to Buddy. He\u2019s a great dog. We send him our congratulations.
