Special day for Alfie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As yesterday was a special day for Alfie, he thought he\u2019d drop in to share a few words of thanks with you all for helping to make it special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve made it. Fourteen years and 104 days, or one hundred to\nyou humans. Before you ask, yes, I\u2019ve allowed for it being a leap year.\nActually it didn\u2019t really matter as that happens afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given I\u2019ve outlived the Queen\u2019s corgi\u2019s I was delighted to\nreceive messages from Mr T, Blue and Kilvroch Mystikos JW. Thank you to all of\nthem. I was equally delighted with all your messages too. Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t want a party. To be honest, I gave up enjoying the company of other dogs a long time ago. I just wanted a quiet day with my mistress by my side and steak for every meal. My Mistress had to cut my steak into small pieces as my teeth really aren\u2019t up to much chewing these days. I\u2019ve got a bit of a tendency to bolt my food too, so I have to be careful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being Loved<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I knew it was going to be a special day when my Mistress got\ndown on the floor and curled up on the edge of my bed with me. It\u2019s those\nlittle gestures that help when you can\u2019t move about so much anymore. I dream of\ndays gone by on her bed, but I can\u2019t even get my leg that high to pee now,\nnever mind to climb upstairs to her bedroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Old as I am, I still want to feel a tender loving hand just as much as I did when I was a puppy. I hunger for the sound of a loving word, though given my hearing is pretty much shot I have to imagine that bit quite often. Even when I don\u2019t hear the words, I see it in her face and that makes me content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for presents, at my age I don\u2019t want for much, just the\ncontentment of knowing that I\u2019m still loved. That\u2019s good enough for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
