Today she is eleven years old. Happy birthday to her brothers, Rocky and Kai too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That means we know have two elderly dogs in the house. Mind\nyou, Shadow doesn\u2019t think of herself as old so neither do we. She will be celebrating\nquietly and enjoying her presents. I\u2019m afraid you\u2019ll have to wait until\ntomorrow to see a picture of her with her presents as I wrote this before she\nwas given them. She had her annual vaccinations yesterday and an overall check\nand is doing fine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alfie\u2019s Vet Visit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alfie is a medical marvel. We are all fairly confused as to what is happening with him. His lymph glands, apart from one, seem to have gone down quite a lot. He has got a new lump which may be another spindle cell tumour, but as they are growing slowly they will have little impact overall. All in all, we can only conclude that having been at death\u2019s door in December he has decided that he hasn\u2019t had enough just yet, and except for his dementia he\u2019s in pretty good shape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_8946-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17051\"\/><figcaption>Alfie, all tucked up in bed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, his dementia is bad and he doesn\u2019t cope if Mum leaves\nhim at all. She has arranged for him to have a trial day in day care to see how\nhe gets on, but she is doing it on a day she can pick him up at a moment\u2019s notice\nif he can\u2019t cope. She says we won\u2019t be going to Switzerland at the moment as\nshe doesn\u2019t want to be too far away from him, but if the day care goes ok then\nI may still be going to Crufts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day Care<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Day care is fun. I\u2019ve had odd days there while Mum hasn\u2019t been able to take me on long walks. When Mum comes to pick me up, she says it\u2019s like collecting a small child from school and she fully expects me to come trotting out carrying a painting I\u2019ve done for her.
