Shadow is on heart tablets. Her heart is not in too bad shape, but she does need to start on medication to make sure it doesn\u2019t get worse. Mum says, she\u2019s a little dog with a big heart, but I think that\u2019s a different thing altogether. The good news is that what is wrong is just a question of her aging and there is no sign of her having had any hidden problem that wasn\u2019t an issue before. She will have to have annual check-ups now as long as it doesn\u2019t change. The vet has told Mum to check Shadow\u2019s resting breathing rate every couple of weeks. What the vet didn\u2019t say is how you make Shadow rest! She does rather bounce her way through life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mum is being hard on me. I can see her point, but she\u2019s making\nme stay in bed in the morning and trying to break my habit of getting up quite\nso soon. I\u2019m not stupid, I can tell she\u2019s awake even though she is lying very\nstill. The words, \u2018Wilma, bed!\u2019 are a bit of a giveaway too. Yesterday she made\nme wait until 5.35am to get up. I had tried at 4.20am but she wasn\u2019t having any\nof it. I\u2019ve lost my ally. While Alfie was getting up when I started to move\naround, Mum didn\u2019t have much choice in the matter. Now his medication has been\nincreased he still wants to sleep at that time. It\u2019s so much harder for me to\nargue my case when it\u2019s only for me and Mum knows it\u2019s not because I need the\nloo. I may have to give in on this one, but I\u2019m not going down without a fight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alfie is really enjoying going out and about with Mum. I\u2019d\nlike to be going too, but he doesn\u2019t want to share the crate and Mum says she\ndoesn\u2019t trust me to sit in the car for any length of time. I think she\u2019s\nworried I might find a way to start the engine and drive off. Honestly, is there\nno trust in this house?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
