It was so funny. He did a great job of looking after both me and Mum as well as all our fetching and carrying. Mum had worked out where everything could go in the car so she could sit on the back seat but with the front seat flat to put her legs up. She wasn\u2019t too uncomfortable, which was good. I had offered to share my crate with her, but she didn\u2019t think that would work for some reason. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/IMG_8642-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16841\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Knowing the Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mum knows the route so well because she does it so often. When\nDad travels he generally flies so he is not so familiar with it. It was ok when\nMum remembered to tell him the important things like where the turnings were. I\nknow what you\u2019re saying, he could follow the sat-nav. Of course he could, but\nthe sat-nav in Mum\u2019s car isn\u2019t very good and doesn\u2019t have all the roads on, so\nthat can go a bit wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service Station Chaos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now sadly I missed this as I was waiting in the car, but the\nfirst service station stop did not go quite to plan. Dad suggested they have\ncoffee and apple strudel. Mum thought it was a great idea and as she was so\nslow moving around she said she would catch up with him. When she came out of\nthe toilets she rang him to ask where he was. \u2018The escalator where we came in,\u2019\nwas his reply. She hobbled back on her crutches. He wasn\u2019t there. She rang him\nagain. \u2018By where we came in,\u2019 he replied. She went down the lift to the doors.\nStill no sign of Dad. She rang him again. When he said \u2018where we came in\u2019 what\nhe really meant was \u2018completely the other side of the motorway by the escalator\nthat goes in the opposite direction\u2019. By the time she got back to the car Mum\nwas a little tired, but seemed to see the funny side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilma<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Wilma reports on her chauffeur driven journey back to England from Switzerland.
