Our job today is cheering Dad up. He\u2019s a big sports fan and\nparticularly rugby. After England lost in the world cup final yesterday he was\nvery down so now it\u2019s up to us to cheer him up. Dogs are good for that. We\nalways know the sort of mood you in and every single one of us can act as a\ntherapy dog within our own families. My approach is to spend some time assessing\nthe situation first. The last thing you want to do is go bowling in before your\nhuman is ready. Then I go in and see if he\u2019s ready for a kiss. Usually, if I\nstart smothering him with kisses I can raise a smile before too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I always think it\u2019s a good idea to take your human out for a\nwalk in these situations, but it can be a bit longer before they are ready for\nthat. You have to get your timings right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Mum I always think it\u2019s a shame I can\u2019t cook as cake so\noften seems to be the answer for her. I can at the very least give her a cuddle\nand lead her into the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This month is exciting. We\u2019re on the countdown to Alfie\u2019s\nbirthday. In just another ten days he will reach the age of 14. We\u2019re all\npretty excited, well, as much as Alfie gets excited about anything these days.\nMum has promised us steak, which is always appreciated. She has also said if\nthe weather is good she\u2019s going to try to see if he can get into his little car\nand go for a drive. Fortunately it\u2019s quite low to the ground so he might manage\nto do it. He hasn\u2019t been in it for over a year I don\u2019t think, so I think he\u2019ll\nenjoy that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
