Mum was expecting it to be no different to the other
cameras we’ve tried. She was wrong!

Monitoring Alfie

Now, as you know Alfie has dementia and sometimes has bad
days. Mum said that we could use the camera to monitor Alfie. That was where
the first really good feature came in. It’s got a magnetic base. That meant we
were able to simply attach it to the fridge door without having to use any
fixings and could plug it into the socket behind the fridge easily as it’s got
a really long lead. It does have fixings for the wall or any other surface too,
but Mum was really impressed by the magnet and it’s strong enough not to fall
off.

Photo History

This was the second thing that meant Mum got excited. Most
of the cameras we’ve tried allow you to see what a dog is doing at the time you
check. This one is much more sophisticated. It is motion sensitive and then
records for the period it senses movement and saves what it records so you can
go back and check. That means we could look back at just how often Alfie was
getting up and pacing. It would be great for night time monitoring too as it
can see in the dark really very well. It can save the images either to a memory
card which you put into a slot of you can pay for cloud storage, which makes it
even easier.

Sound

It has good quality sound as well as vision, so we could
hear what Alfie was doing. Mum was even able to work out quickly how he had
taken the skin off his nose and wrap something soft around the gate where he
was catching it so it didn’t happen again. There was about a second and half
time lag between things actually happening and them appearing on the app so
when Alfie barked it was a bit like having an echo, but it’s very easy to turn
the sound off.

Set up

It was very easy to set up. You have to install an app
onto your phone, but apart from that it simply attaches to your home wi-fi
network and doesn’t need another router as some systems do. Any intelligent dog
or small child would be able to do it for you if you got stuck.

Alexa

We kept finding new features the more we played with it.
You can get it to integrate with an Amazon Alexa or other smart device. Mum’s
got an Alexa with a screen and tried it out. It would make it very easy to
monitor an area of your home while sitting somewhere else and without taking up
your phone or computer. The only downside was that you have to turn off the
encryption for it to work on an Alexa. Mum said I should tell you that it only
works on a 2.4GHz wifi and not a 5GHz, and hopefully you’ll understand that
better than I did.

Showing on an Alexa

Alerts for the EZVIZ Mini O Plus

You can get the app to send you alerts when the camera is activated. Of course, with Alfie Mum would be getting alerts all the time, but if you were using it for security that would be a really good feature. The image is really clear and it shows a wide part of the room. We were also surprised to find that you can buy it for about £40, which Mum says is a bargain for what it can do. They make other equipment in the range too, for both indoors and outdoors. We like it and will carry on using it with Alfie when we need to keep an eye on him.

If you want to find out more you can find it on Amazon HERE for the UK and HERE for the US

Hope you like it if you get one

Have a great day

Wilma

Wilma has been testing the EZVIZ Mini O Plus.
