We haven\u2019t had any Christmas carols this year\nyet. I was thinking about it as our Master and Mistress are off to sing carols\non the village green this afternoon. Don\u2019t worry, there\u2019ll be plenty of other\npeople there, you won\u2019t be able to hear their dreadful voices. Anyway, it got\nme to thinking that our Mistress hasn\u2019t had bad Christmas music playing or any\nChristmas carols. That in turn made me think about the special variations that\nAlfie has written over the years and I thought I\u2019d try my paw at coming up with\none for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
O little dog from Entlebuch,
\nYou\u2019re never still for long.
\nYou run and leap and rarely sleep,
\nAnd bark and howl in song.
\nYet in your brown eyes shineth,
\nAn everlasting light,
\nYou\u2019ll guard your pack and watch their back,
\nClose by them all the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That was the point I realised that writing\ncarols can be very hard work and I may be best leaving it to Alfie. I don\u2019t\nthink I\u2019m quite as naturally gifted in poetry as he is. I\u2019m more of a philosopher\nand I must say I\u2019m a better negotiator too. It\u2019s good we each have our own\nstrengths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think we\u2019re getting an early visit from\nSanta Paws this afternoon. I can\u2019t say too much, but I know that Santa is\ncoming to our village today and I think we might be getting our own special\nvisit as part of it. Wilma wanted to go down to the Green, but our Mistress doesn\u2019t\nlike her being around mince pies and the humans will be eating some of those. I\u2019m\nmuch happier that Santa will come to me here. I can\u2019t wait to give him my list\nof things I\u2019d like him to bring me on Tuesday. I\u2019ve written them all down so he\ndoesn\u2019t forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
