Well here we are again with a Friday Flashback. I thought as Alfie is still recovering I’d go right back to when he was really small, or at least the same size as now but younger. This made me smile from 2009. It’s worth remembering that when he did eventually get his own rabbit it had to be taken back to the shop the following day for its own safety!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve been considering my role as surrogate chil<\/em> and I think I\u2019m taking full advantage of it. It\u2019s always worth the thought of whether there are any aspects I\u2019m missing. I get into bed for a cuddle every morning and insist on being tucked in at night. I get lavished with praise and affection whenever I do anything new or clever and I\u2019m always pleased to see my Mistress when she\u2019s been out without me. She shares her food with me and gives me the best of everything. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n On balance I don\u2019t think there are any areas I\u2019m missing out on. She tidys up after me when I leave my toys around and never gets cross about the mud I leave about. I\u2019ve got a bit of work to do with my Master on that last one, but then he doesn\u2019t see me as a surrogate. He loves me, but at the end of the day I am just a pet to him.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I thought from the way they were talking yesterday one of the dreams I\u2019ve had for the last couple of years was about to come true. They all went to the pet shop and were looking at the rabbits for when they get one in a few weeks. The boss came home saying she had seen some great \u2018giant house rabbits\u2019. \u2018Oh yes,\u2019 I said. \u2018I read about those ages ago. Please can we have one of those?\u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I thought she was wavering but then later she said it wouldn\u2019t be practical to get it looked after while we go away and I guess there aren\u2019t many holiday properties or hotels that state they take giant rabbits as well as dogs. I\u2019m going to have to settle for a smaller outdoor one and even then I won\u2019t get any say in what it looks like as it will be Andy\u2019s choice. If he\u2019s old enough to have a pet, why aren\u2019t I?
