Wisdom of an Older Dog<\/h2>\n\n\n

Several Entlebucher puppies in the UK seem to be going through what humans dub the Terrible Twos stage. Having spotted my human giving advice to other humans on dealing with those puppies, I thought it only fair to redress the balance and direct some comments to the puppies themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A letter to the young pups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dear youngsters, never forget how intelligent our breed is. Your humans might be lulled into thinking they have everything under control, but it falls to you to be ready to be the next generation of deviant dogs. Please don\u2019t let the work of my generation go to waste. Learn to manage your humans and ensure that you come out on top. They may think if you are compliant with their wishes that they are winning. This is always a good tactic. Win their trust. Lull them into a false sense of security. Remember you have teenage to look forward to in another year and that\u2019s where your plans will pay off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know at six months old it can feel as though you rule the world, trust me, lie low for the time being. You can wreak much more havoc at eighteen months old than you can at six months. To be fair I can do pretty well at six years old too, but that\u2019s altogether a different thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose your battles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Choose your battles wisely. Remember that sometimes you have to lose a battle in order to win the war. If you oblige your humans every so often now they will be totally unprepared for your master rebellion later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh I know that I\u2019m not trusted to be left to my own devices even now, but be assured it\u2019s been huge fun along the way. I\u2019ve eaten handbags and their contents. I\u2019ve helped myself to anthing on the work surface in the kitchen (even if it was in a sealed container), and I won\u2019t go into my crate for anything less than a dried fish. I can open the fridge and the kitchen cupboards. I distribute treats to the other dogs of the house \u2013 yes really! Life is good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took a lot of hard work to get to where I am today and I know you can do it too as long as you play the long game. I\u2019m always here if you need specific advice on how to handle your humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
