There are now less than two weeks until Christmas, when Santa Paws will visit all you good little pups and bring you presents and treats. I’ve heard of puppies who, as they grow up, stop believing in Santa Paws and that’s a dreadfully sad thing to happen. Really, it’s as you become that little bit older and wiser that you should move from wondering if he’s real to recognising the whole importance of everything he stands for. Believing in Santa Paws is all about trying to be a better pup, not so you will get presents, but so you can bring joy to those around you. You young pups have a very important job to do, especially at Christmas.

From the family album – Me, Shadow and Megan (Who looks so like our Wilma) taken in 2010.

The spirit of Santa Paws is there to encourage you youngsters, and you not so youngsters, to be generous and giving and to think of all those around you, regardless of being offered treats. Oh, I’ll admit as well as the next dog, that an extra biscuit here and there does not go amiss but we shouldn’t come to expect that. We should give out our doggy love simply because it’s what we do and there are humans and other animals alike who will benefit from our smiles and our nuzzles.

So, young pups, when you write your letters to Santa Paws, don’t just write the things you’d like for you. Write the things you can give that will help others. You might just find that giving is even more rewarding than receiving, although maybe not if what you were receiving was steak!

When you start wondering if Santa Paws is real, then it’s time to start believing in the spirit of Santa Paws and all it can mean to make the world a happier and more woofly place to be, for all of us.

Love to you all

Alfie

You can find short stories to read at www.alfiedog.com

Alfie’s Diary – the Book as well as our other books are available HERE

It’s a while since I’ve passed on my wisdom to all you young pups out there, but it seems like a good time to do […]

[3,5
109
post-12434","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-day-to-day-life","category-wisdom-and-experience","tag-alfie","post_format-post-format-gallery
["GET
