It\u2019s me, Alfie, writing again today. Ari is not available, much to his annoyance. He asked me to say it felt like those times when you\u2019re shipped off to your grandparents for a few days only to come home to find you have a new brother or sister. Except that in his case it\u2019s kennels rather than grandparents and he\u2019s likely to come back to five or six brothers or sisters! Anyway, the decision for him to go came after Shadow bit my ear, entirely unprovoked, unless you count her raging hormones as provocation! Then Ari decided to pile in and attack me as I was whimpering. It wasn\u2019t a good start to my day and I was sincerely glad to wave goodbye to him. Our Mistress got the Germolene out and after a bit more whimpering I settled down to feel sorry for myself. Having to share my bed with Shadow had been bad enough.<\/p>\n
Anyway, Shadow went off to the vet and had a blood test to see what her progesterone was doing. We will get the result a little later this morning, but I can tell you she is not feeling much like eating now and doesn\u2019t want to go for a walk or be apart from our Mistress. There was a small false alarm with some temperature readings that were lower than normal, but it went back up when she went to the vet so it was hard to tell. Our Mistress has made up some puppy milk replacement ready, just in case and I got to lick one of the pots out, so that cheered me up. The car is already and all we can do now is wait and sooth Shadow who is feeling very sorry for herself right now.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m writing this before I go to bed on Friday night, but it\u2019s quite possible it will be overtaken by events. Shadow\u2019s milk has come through and she is off her food. She\u2019s had a bit of an upset tummy but that\u2019s all fairly normal at this stage. I won\u2019t go into all the gory details. She\u2019s also been showing the first signs of nesting, but she\u2019s never been one of life\u2019s great nesters so it\u2019s hard to say. Anyway our Mistress says she\u2019s having an early night so she\u2019ll have the opportunity of at least some sleep before things get going if it is tonight.<\/p>\n
