It\u2019s official, the sweet potatoes are dead! Ah well, maybe we\u2019ll try some sort of polytunnel next year. However every cloud has silver lining and it does mean we\u2019ve got somewhere we can plant out the squash. Our Mistress planted seeds for both Butternut Squash and Spaghetti Squash, the thing is she did not label them and now she can\u2019t remember which are which. It\u2019s going to be very exciting waiting for them to grow to see which we get! I just hope we don\u2019t get any more cold nights once they\u2019ve been planted out. To lose one set of plants is unfortunate to lose two might be considered careless.<\/p>\n
Fed up with all the flies that come into the office, and Aristotle chasing them until he catches them, our Mistress decided to put some sort of netting over the open window to stop them coming in. It is fair to say that if you buy a solution to a problem which costs \u00a31.88 (including postage) you probably get what you pay for! It has been declared an abject failure and the time which has been lost to repeatedly trying to restick it to the frame will be better spent repeatedly cleaning Aristotle\u2019s nose, paw and mouth marks off the windows where he has gone after the flies. To be fair, he is very good at catching them and it seems better than using fly spray! On the bright side it has made her realise that the options she was looking at for the back door are probably not even worth considering and they were going to cost \u00a34.75.<\/p>\n
As you will have realised as I haven\u2019t mentioned it, Shadow\u2019s season hasn\u2019t started yet so all is relatively calm. Our Mistress thinks it may well start next week and then she will be in frantic planning mode to take her to Switzerland. Shadow is not giving any clues, but then she probably doesn\u2019t know either.<\/p>\n
